Conquer Closet Clutter – De-Clutter & Re-Organize

By admin - August 30th, 2010

Recently I overheard a discussion that is all too familiar. The conversation went something like –”we just do not have enough space” — “we need to buy a bigger house because we are cramped in our home and the ‘stuff’ just seems to be multiplying”.

The reality is most of us just are not using the space we have efficiently.  With a commitment to de-clutter and re-organize, even a small condo can feel spacious.

  1. Think up and down.  By installing additional shelving in any closet keeps items off the floor and easy to locate creating more space that we all desire.
  2. Create a small home office space so you can keep one eye on the kids while you work on the computer.  If you keep these spaces neat and tidy, they add to your décor concept instead of looking misplaced.
  3. Give your closets a makeover.  By adding baskets and a hanging sweater organizer, you can create three times the useable storage space in a standard size closet.
  4. Think outside the closet.  Use spaces like the back of a door. In the bedroom, hang a shoe rack, hooks and even your hamper. In the pantry hang a chalkboard, lid rack for pots, or a wire rack for spices.
  5. Last and most important, go through your possessions and keep only what you use.  Sell, donate or get rid of everything else. You’ll be surprised at how much space you have after a purge!  Then, find homes for the remaining items and keep those items “at home” when not in use.

Home Closet Organization

By admin - August 3rd, 2010

Our home closet systems can:

1. Improve the organization of your closets to make it more functional, giving a smaller area more storage space providing greater access.

2. Improve your closet experience as a whole through luxurious trim and functional appearance.

Your individual purpose for upgrading to a closet organizer will be your own, however, closet organizers will not only improve functionality and your complete closet experience; but can be one of those little things that get your house sold faster. Home closet systems alone are not intended to increase the value of your home but installing closet organizers is a matter of personal preference.

Since you have options (functionality and experience) there is a wide variety of closet organizers which clearly enhance the closet experience. Take a look at some of our Closet Designs.

Harvard Center says Remodeling Activity to Accelerate

By Bob - Corporate - July 30th, 2010

CAMBRIDGE, MA A recovery in home improvement spending will soon be underway according to the Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity (LIRA) released July 15 by the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University.

Remodeling spending is expected to increase on an annual basis by the end of the year, and the LIRA points to growth accelerating to the double-digit range in the first quarter of 2011.

“Absent a reversal of recent economic progress, there should be a healthy upturn in home improvement activity by year-end and into next year,” said Eric Belsky, managing director of the Joint Center for Housing Studies.

Homeowner optimism is bolstering a trend toward investing in the home again. “The recovery in home improvement activity appears to be moving beyond simple replacement projects and energy retrofits to broader remodels and upgrades,” said Kermit Baker, director of the Remodeling Futures Program at the Joint Center for Housing Studies. “A wider activity base would help generate the expected growth in the quarters ahead.”
